Being a fairly small city having only 18,000 inhabitants Lagos is the ideal place for a relaxed holiday. Use a Car Rental Lagos vehicle to see all of the attractions on offer.
Visit Igreja de Santo Antonio. As with many Portuguese churches the outsides are plain but have a rich and interesting interior. The gilded and intricate wooden carvings with the blue and white azulejos are some of the most beautiful the whole country has to offer. Six baroque paintings provided by Mestre Jose Joaquim Rasquinho are fabulously interesting. The church also survived the Great Earthquake of 1755, although partially rebuilt by Lagos Infantry Regiment.
Since Lagos is predominately a coastal city, the locals make the most of the sea. Fishing has always been a lucrative business although since the tourism boom in the 1960's there are now lots of restaurants and cafes. They supply great fish and seafood whilst having a beautiful view of the seaside.
Leave the Car Rental Lagos motor at the hotel and go and sample some wine. Lagos is famous for producing its moscatel wine and also the very potent aguardente de medronho. Being made from strawberry trees it is a very strong alcoholic spirit.
Having 8 beaches on offer, Lagos is definitely the holidaymakers dream. Choose from Praia da Luz, Potato beach or the most famous Dona Ana beach. The latter is surrounded by strange rock formations and jutting cliff faces. Meia Praia is one for the water sports, as it very wide.
